As a devout Buddhist & lay ordained Sōtō Zen practitioner, practice is a word I hear and see very often, and I find it perfect and beautifully relevant as the title for my first photo book, and because Sōtō Zen is a form of Japanese Buddhism, I decided to use the Japanese word for practice as the official title, Renshū, It also means training. Practice is training. Training is practice. The majority of the photographs in this book were captured from July 2018 to pre-Covid 2020 during my daily practice and training at Zen Center North Shore in Beverly, Massachusetts where I was given the Dharma name Jishō Gaishin & also includes some of my original art related to Buddhism & Zen.practice.
