LGBTQ Activists Protest Against Rayla Campbell in Plymouth, Massachusetts

Plymouth No Place for Hate

Today I went to Plymouth, Massachusetts to join with comrades in a protest against anti-lgbtq bigot Rayla Cambell, republican candidate for Massachusetts secretary of state who held an America Backs the Blue rally at Colonial Ford of Plymouth, which got derailed when a protester reported to Plymouth police that Rayla Campbell was showing people a graphic novel depicting sex and claiming it was "child porn". As a result, a Plymouth police officer questioned her and took a look at the book in her possession which was Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe. The book "Genderqueer" is an illustrated memoir about an artist’s non-binary, asexual identity. The officer concluded that it was not "child porn" as Rayla Campbell has been falsely claiming in her attacks against LGBTQ books in Massachusetts libraries.

Rayla Campbell is known for disrupting a drag queen story hour in Holbrook, Massachusetts and has a history of anti lgbtq rhetoric, so when news of her being questioned about the book began circulating on social media it went viral.

Cabby Shack Supports Hate!

After the back the blue rally, protesters headed to Cabby Shack restaurant in downtown Plymouth where Rayla Campbell was holding her campaign kick off fundraiser. Cabby Brini , owner of Cabby Shack is known to residents of Plymouth as a right wing bigot and Trump supporter who regularly hosts right wing events at Cabby Shack. Protesters stood on both sides of the street with signs, and for over 45 minutes several used cowbells and other noise makers to disrupt Rayla Campbell's speeches.
