Streets of Salem Public Art

Salem, Massachusetts has a lot of public art throughout the city, including huge murals painted on the sides of buildings and houses. While some of the public art in Salem is prominent and easily discovered, others are hidden in back alleys. You'll find public art in the streets of downtown Salem and all throughout Salem's "the point" neighborhood..

While walking around the streets of Salem with a camera one afternoon after a client couple's portrait photo session, I decided to go explore some of the huge street murals & public art. The majority of murals found throughout the Salem Point neighborhood were done in 2018-2019 via Salem's Punto Urban Art Museum. The Punto Urban Art Museum is an open air museum located in Salem, Massachusetts in the "El Punto" Neighborhood. It exists over a three block radius and includes the artwork of many world renowned and local artists and over 75 large scale murals. The covid 19 pandemic of 2020 to 2022 has put an end to Urban Art Museum's annual block party and no new works have been completed after 2019.
